Perhaps a used pair of hosiery can be split in half, so that each leg covers most of the arm. Ideally, it would be best to have some control top or stocking top on each arm warmer. It would also be best to sew a seam on each raw edge, or at least put a bunch of nail polish on it, to prevent runs and ladders. Do not forget to make a hole for a thumb in each arm warmer, so that as much of your arm can be covered as possible.
